Team for Fulham
Haller was dreadful the other day. But, it was against Liverpool, meaning Bowen / Fornals / Soucek struggled to play off him as they were further down the pitch. I can't see it being like that against Fulham, so one more chance. Could stick in Diop ahead of General.

Fabs
General - Og - Cress
Vlad the Impaler - Masuaku
Tommy the Killer - Rice
Bowen - Spanish Pirate
Le Moody Frenchman

I'd go 4-2-3-1, and hope whoever plays on the left is capable to do so (which probably means Johnson out of position or the untired Longelo).

I don't think we need to be going 5 at the back against the shittest team in the league, plus it also gives us a chance to see what the deal is with Benrahma, even though Fulham managed to have him in their pocket for the playoffs. I'd like to see why we've bought him.

4 at the back for me. Can't see us dominate the game against teams that sit back with the current system.

Fab
Coufal Balb Og Cress
Soucek Rice
Bowen Pablo Benrahma
Haller

Masuaku to come in for Benrahma when he gets tired. Could change to 541 with Masuaku coming in if we're ahead

Re: Team for Fulham
While still unconvinced about Haller, he did not have one decent ball played to him on Saturday. So I’ll leave judgement open until we give him an actual chance.

That chance should be Saturday where we’ll have more possession and more chance of giving him decent service.

Everyone saying how great our system is, it is for being organised and defending. It’s not when we want to attack with the players we have available.

Bowen has been completely overrated since he arrived and his work rate is keeping him in the team, not his creativity.

Best deliverer of a ball is Snograss - and as limited as he is, I’d play him to try and get the best out of Haller.

I’d be tempted to go to a 4 at the back as there isn’t much that worries me about Fulham, I think we can swap out a defender to bring Benrahma in, could also benefit Haller.

Bowen overrated, I agree.. 3 goals this season, excellent work rate.. Instrumental in us being able to break quickly.. Drop the cunt.. And slow down our breaks

______

It would have made little odds if he did, considering almost every time we countered into their final third he was still jogging in the centre circle.

I'd find it EMBARRASSING playing 5 at the back, with no striker on the pitch against Fulham.

Re: Team for Fulham
Sajmo's team. 5-4-1 has been good, but it was probably at least partly chosen to get us through our horror stretch of games, which it did.

Against teams like Fulham we won't be playing so much counter-attack. We'll need to break down their defenses with tricky players like Benrahma.

Re: Team for Fulham
Same team that started at Liverpool for me.

Like it or not Haller deserves another opportunity - one game where we have none of the ball not enough to bin someone.

If however he's stinking the place out from an attitude perspective, injured or Moyes doens't fancy him in the side then I'd be tempted to go:

-------------------------Fabianski

---------Balbuena---Ogbonna---Cresswell

Coufal------------Rice-------Soucek----------Masuaku

--------Fornals--------Bowen------Benrahma

Controversial as it will obviously be, I'd also be quite tempted to try Diop in midfield if we get a decent lead (3 nil plus). If Rice or Soucek get injured we lack athletiscism and defensive nous in there. I suspect Rice could actually cover for Soucek by being less defensive minded as he has the talent to be unshackled, but we have no cover for Rice.

Maybe Diop could be that cover, which we won't know unless it's tried?

Re: Team for Fulham
Personally, I'd leave Haller on the bench. His dismal work rate and effectiveness at holding the ball up and getting involved in the play doesn't make it worthwhile giving him a start, plus maybe 60 plus minutes of being TURD.

Benrahma I'd give 90 minutes if he's fit enough. He's used to Fulham, scored twice against them this season in the shitty cup, and if we get in front and look comfortable, we could bring Le Donkey on at the end, like the Wolves game.

Re: Team for Fulham
Those of you saying we should revert t 4 at the back, don't you realise that we've effectively been playing 5 at the back when defending but 4 when attacking. Cresswell deserves huge credit for the amount of ground he has been covering, frequently getting forward to support our attacking play. True, we did very little of it at Liverpool, but in all the other games since Arsenal it has worked superbly, so why change it?

I expect us to start with an unchanged side. Would like to see Benrahma get a good half hour.

Darby_ 4:10 Mon Nov 2
Re: Team for Fulham
I think it's more to do with the fact that we'd like to see three attacking midfielders.

Re: Team for Fulham
This is a big game for us.

We have played so well against the top sides but we have a history of doing that and playing crap against lower placed teams.

Newcastle being our only bad performance of the season so far.

Be nice to see us keep up the level of performance against Fulham.

Dont change the system at all. Same team again.

People wanting to change the formation to accomodate Benrahma.

He was not a Moyes signing so we wont be chnaging our system any time soon to fit him in. We should not either.

Re: Team for Fulham
The amount of people putting Benrahma upfront is amazing.

Almost as if we should have signed someone else..

I'm aware of that, I just don't think we need to be defending 5 at the back against shitty Fulham.

And I'm not one of these getting excited about Cresswell and Masuaku "playing well". Both of them aren't good enough to take the position of left back, so what we have is 2 inadequate players taking the role that 1 capable player should take.

If we play 4 at the back, it allows us to bringing in Benrahma and play a striker.

the exile 4:44 Mon Nov 2
Re: Team for Fulham
Trundle - for weeks you've been peddling this ridiculous line about Cresswell and Masuaku playing the role of one player and it's utter, utter bollocks. It's unusual to have a CB getting forward as much as Cresswell does - maybe that's too much for you to get your head around. But the only truth in what you're saying is that they look like a unit, but that is not because they are two inadequate players doing the job of one. It's because the manager has devised a formula that brings out the best in both players and they are working VERY WELL TOGETHER. Gawd knows, we have all criticised both of them enough in the past for being inadequate left-backs in a back four. Almost every side has two players operating on each flank, and that is exactly what these two are doing really well on our left side. Fornals is generally playing further inside.
